Nathalie Des Rosiers is currently General Counsel of the Canadian Civil Liberties Association. Previously, she was uOttawa Vice-President for Governance from December 2008 till July 2009. She was Dean of the Civil Law Section from 2004 to 2008 and president of the Federation of Social Sciences and Humanties from 2008 to 2009. She is past president of the Law Commission of Canada (2000-2004).
From 1987 to 2000, Ms. Des Rosiers was a Faculty member at the Faculty of Law, University of Western Ontario.
She clerked for Justice Julien Chouinard at the Supreme Court of Canada (1982-1983) and carried on private practice until 1987.
Ms. Des Rosiers is a Past President of the Association des juristes d'expression française de l'Ontario (AJEFO) and of the Canadian Law Teachers Association.
She was a member of the Environmental Appeal Board (1988 to 2000) and a member of the Ontario Law Reform Commission (1993 to 1996).
She received the medal of the Law Society of Upper Canada in 1999, the Order of Merit from the AJEFO in 2000, an honorary Degree from the Law Scoiety of Upper Canada (2004) and was “Personnalité de l’année (Education)” Le Droit –Radio-Canada in 2005.
Ms. Des Rosiers obtained an LL.B. from the Université de Montréal in 1981 and an LL.M. from Harvard University in 1984. She became a member of the Barreau du Québec in 1982 and of the Law Society of Upper Canada in 1987.
